Enjoy the Process of Designing your Bespoke Garment
Take your time to explore the fabric choices, linings and various trim details. Use the Gallery page for inspiration too, but most importantly trust your instincts – you almost certainly will know what you like, even if it is subconsciously!
These are garments that you should really look forward to wearing, so please don’t rush this part of the process. This is a great opportunity for you to design and create a true wardrobe favourite.
If, however, you really cannot decide, then please do contact us – we are very experienced in helping customers make the right choice for them, and we would be absolutely delighted to give you our thoughts.
The Cut/Style
We are passionate about producing beautifully cut clothes, and we tailor garments that look flattering whilst being extremely comfortable to wear.
Our clothes are classically cut, have a fitted look, and incorporate subtle details such as horn buttons, and real working buttonholes on the sleeves. Known as ‘surgeons cuffs’ they were introduced in the early 19th century so that military surgeons, wearing a jacket to operate on their patients (of course!), were able to roll their suit sleeves up – irrelevant today, but a detail still regarded as a mark of a quality tailored jacket.
Outer Fabrics

We invite you to choose from a variety of quality British cloths, including wool/cashmere blends, merino lambswools, linens from Northern Ireland, beautiful Scottish tweeds, and cotton velvets.
We aim to change our fabric choices several times a year to reflect the seasons, so please keep an eye on the website or follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
Linings

Our selection of linings includes some stunning Liberty prints (Tana Lawn fine cottons – they really are beautiful), some stripes and patterns, and of course some plain coloured satins and cottons.
Please be warned that once the existing Liberty print linings have sold out, they will be replaced by alternative patterns, so once again please keep an eye on the website for updates.
Trimming Details
Buttons
We offer a choice of classic horn buttons in dark brown, natural and navy – proper buttons and another hallmark of a top quality garment.

Buttonhole contrasting thread colours
For the jackets, we offer the option for the bottom cuff buttonhole thread on both sleeves to be sewn in either redcurrant or pale blue (to match the undercollar colour meltons shown below).

For the gilets, a lovely detail is to match up the bottom buttonhole thread to the inside collar velvet colour, as seen on plenty of examples on the main gallery page.
If these contrasting thread options are not for you, and you would rather have toning colours for the buttonholes, then simply leave the option box unticked on the order form.

Undercollar melton for the jacket
This is an opportunity to choose a contrasting colour for the melton – (the furry , felt-like fabric under the collar), in either redcurrant or pale blue. This is a discreet but popular detail, but equally, if you prefer a toning colour then that is absolutely fine too!

Inner collar velvet for the gilets
Make your garment stand out by choosing one of our gorgeous velvets to line the inside of the Nehru collar in a choice of 6 colours – navy, petrol, redcurrant, bright pink, orange and moss green. If you would rather not have velvet, but want to have the same fabric as the outer material, then we can do that too.

The Measuring Process
For first time customers, and those existing clients who have changed shape, or need remeasuring, please book a Zoom call with Martin Pryke who will take you through the measuring process step by step. He is vastly experienced, and with his guidance you will end up with a perfectly fitting garment.
Please click the link to schedule a Zoom call via Calendly at a time that is convenient for you.
During the call, if you would like to discuss your fabric combinations in more detail, or explore alternative options, again we would be delighted to help you.
If you cannot find your tape measure, or you only own a metal one, then please email us and we will send you a complimentary tailor’s tape measure.
A garment made to your exact measurements is a real treat to wear – we just know that you will be thrilled with the finished garments.
